Are You Cut Out For Some Outstanding Receiving?

Parenthetically speaking, we all like to receive gifts and possessions in life.  If you say you don’t, then you are probably the exception to the rule.

Who doesn’t secretly wish they had a better car, bigger house, nicer education, clothes, jewelry, electronics, the list could go on infinitely.  I know we all have our secret wishes to be on the receiving end of something that is beyond our grasp.  But there is a way to ensure we can be on the receiving end of those things that we are in need of in our life, sometimes including the little luxuries in life.

Receiving is a principle that, like the law of gravity (if you drop an apple it falls to the ground), works whether we want it to or not.  It doesn’t matter whether we believe it or not, it is going to work, one way or the other.  Receiving is a principle from the Bible where it talks about giving in order to receive.  It says in Luke 6:38 “If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return.  It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap.  The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.”

There it is.  The secret to receiving is to give.

The Bible also talks about all kinds of giving you can do to receive, but the main ideas are:

  • Be a cheerful giver, 2Corinthians 9:7
  • Do your giving in secret, Matthew 6:4
  • Give to everyone who asks of you, Luke 6:30
  • Freely you have received, freely give, Matthew 10:8
  • Give to the poor, Matthew 19:21

Where is there a need you know of today where you can you start to give?
