A spiritual gift, as defined by the Greek from the new testament says it is
“a divine gratuity, deliverance from danger or passion; specifically a spiritual endowment, that is subjectively a religious qualification or objectively a miraculous faculty. It is a free gift.”
There are diversities of gifts but the same spirit, that is the Holy Spirit. There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. There are diversities of operations, but the same God that disperses these gifts.
In 1Corinthians 12:8-10, the following gifts are listed:
- the word of wisdom
- the word of knowledge
- gifts of healing
- working of miracles
- discerning of spirits
- diverse kinds of tongues
- the interpretation of tongues
In 1 Corinthians 12:28, these gifts are listed (minus any repeats):
In the Ephesians 4:11, without any repeats, the gifts that are listed are as follows:
In Romans 12:7-8, these gifts are further mentioned
- Showing Mercy
Then all off by itself, in Romans 10:14, it mentions
- a preacher.
From everything I could find, there were 23 gifts in all. Which one do you think you have? If you’re not sure, come back again, I hope to explain these spiritual gifts in subsequent articles.
